SC-5008: Configure and Govern Entitlement with Microsoft Entra ID

Course Prerequisites

Before enrolling in SC-5008, it is recommended that participants have:

• A basic understanding of identity and access management (IAM) concepts.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory) and its core features, such as user authentication, groups, and roles.
• Previous experience with Microsoft 365 or Azure environments is beneficial but not required.
• Knowledge of security governance, access control models (RBAC), and basic concepts of privileged identity management (PIM) will be helpful.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

1. Understand the key features of Microsoft Entra Identity Governance and how they integrate with Microsoft Entra ID for comprehensive entitlement management.
2. Configure user and group entitlements using Microsoft Entra ID, including the implementation of role-based access control (RBAC) and dynamic groups.
3. Implement and manage entitlement policies to automate access assignments and approvals based on business rules and user attributes.
4. Govern user access and entitlement using Microsoft Entra Access Reviews to ensure compliance and remove unnecessary access.
5. Set up self-service capabilities to allow end users to request access to resources, approve requests, and manage their own entitlements.
6. Implement Privileged Identity Management (PIM) to ensure that privileged roles are assigned securely, with just-in-time (JIT) access and proper auditing for compliance.
7. Monitor and audit entitlement access to ensure that users only have access to what they need, while maintaining a strong security posture.
8. Integrate Microsoft Entra Identity Governance with other tools like Microsoft Defender for Identity to enhance security and governance across the organization.
9. Understand how to apply conditional access policies to restrict access based on user risk factors, device compliance, and location.
10. Implement best practices for entitlement lifecycle management including provisioning, de-provisioning, and role changes.
